Analysis Resources

This section describes the various resources that are included in the analysis section, their purpose, and where they are used.

Resource Collections

Resource Collections are a concept used in EnergyTracer to group together resources that will be applied to a project multiple times. This is useful if all buildings would like the same collection of resources so that multiple copies do not need to be created.

Collections can be cloned to copy all resources within that collection. This is useful if you need 2 collections that are nearly the same but have one or two elements that differ.

Resource collections are currently used for custom rates and custom GHG conversions. Visit their articles to learn more about how their collections are used.

Regressions

Regressions are used to weather normalize baseline data for performance reports. For information on how regressions work visit this article.

Many models can be created for a specific building and utility type combination, but only one can be added to each project at a time. Each model lists which projects it belongs to on the 'Existing Models' tab. The project also shows a table of which building and utility types have a regression model applied on the project tab under project regressions.

Custom Rates

Custom Rates are used in performance report saving calculations. These rates are used so the cost savings will be consistent across a time period and is not affected by baseline rates or performance rates.

Rates are combined together within a collection. Collections are used to manage how rates change over time. These collections can then be added to a project on the projects tab. The benefit of collections is that if some buildings within a project have different rates while other have the same, then a collection can be created for each unique rate then applied to the buildings that use it, without having to create the rates over and over for each building.

A custom rate is applied over a date range selected on the rate itself.

  • Example
    • If a rate is added for January 2022 and January 2023
    • Anything before January 2022 all the way to December 2022 will use the January 2022 rate
    • Anything after January 2023 will use that rate

Custom GHG Conversions

Custom GHG conversions are used when an organization has a specific purchasing plan and does not follow our default GHG calculation method.

GHG conversions are combined together within a collection. Collections are used to manage how conversions change over time. These collections can then be added to a project on the projects tab. The benefit of collections is that if some buildings within a project have different conversions while other have the same, then a collection can be created for each unique conversion then applied to the buildings that use it, without having to create the conversions over and over for each building.

A conversion is applied over a date range selected on the conversion itself.

  • Example
    • If a conversion is added for January 2022 and January 2023
    • Anything before January 2022 all the way to December 2022 will use the January 2022 conversion
    • Anything after January 2023 will use that conversion

Savings Measures

Savings Measures is a section for the savings measure of a project can be viewed. Performance projects have Operational Savings and GHG projects have GHG Savings Projects.

Regression Events

Regression events are used to adjust data fluctuations that fall outside of a performance projects. More information about regression events can be found here.

Regression events collections can be created and applied to any new regression model being created. It is recommended to keep them one-to-one but this is not a forced requirement.
