Cognito Status Definitions

Cognito User Status Status Description  Next Action
UNCONFIRMED The user has been created but not confirmed The new user must click on the link in the confirmation email they received. They will be redirected to set their password.
CONFIRMED The user has been confirmed and is ready to use for Authentication No further action is needed, the user can now log into all Orchestrate applications with their credentials.
EXTERNAL_PROVIDER A user signed in with a third-party Identity Provider No further action is needed, the user can now log into all Orchestrate applications by signing into their third-party Identity Provider
UNKNOWN User status isn't known The user needs to contact an Orchestrate Admin to recover their account.
RESET_REQUIRED The user is confirmed, but the user must request a code and reset their password before they can sign in The user must enter their email address in the Forgot Password page. Then they must use the code sent to their email to confirm their account.
FORCE_CHANGE_PASSWORD The user is confirmed and the user can sign in using a temporary password, but on first sign-in, the user must change their password to a new value before doing anything else The user must use the temporary password sent to their email, and then set a new password to confirm their account.
